Jewelry Care
General Care:
Our handmade jewelry is made with love and care, but just like anything that gets daily use, jewelry is subject to some general wear and tear. To keep your pieces in tip top condition please keep these considerations in mind:
It is best to keep your jewelry away from salt water, chlorine, sauna, or any chemicals such as hairspray, perfume, oils, lotions, hand sanitizers, cleaning supplies, etc.
Please keep in mind it is best to remove jewelry when doing any activity that could cause damage such as sports, sleep, shower, pool, or a day at the beach.
Tarnishing is a naturally occurring oxidation process that happens to most metals, including silver and brass. To help prevent tarnishing, when jewelry is not in use, store in an airtight plastic bag.
Jewelry Cleaning
If tarnish occurs on a brightly finished piece, you can use a dry jewelry polishing cloth and rub the jewelry until tarnish disappears. It is also recommended to regularly clean bright pieces with warm water, baking soda, and a toothbrush.
I darken many of my silver pieces through an oxidation process. Please do not use polishing cloths on these pieces as they are slightly abrasive and will remove the finish. To clean oxidized pieces, gently clean with warm water, mild soap, and a toothbrush.
Gold pieces are not subject to tarnish, but they can get dirty and smudged. Simply wipe with a polishing cloth to return them to their original luster.
Repairs/Refinishing
I stand behind my work, if your piece is in need of repair from general wear and tear within the first 6 months of purchase, I would be happy to do so for free. Thereafter, repairs will be $10-25 plus shipping.
I finish many of my silver pieces with an oxidation process to give them a deep gunmetal patina. Even though I seal this finish, it is completely normal for it to gradually change over time as the piece is worn. The sections of the piece that come into contact with its surroundings will start to “re-shine” themselves as they rub against skin, clothing, etc. This is a beautiful testament to the piece’s journey with you, but I would be happy to retouch the finish at any time for free if you cover the shipping cost.
